Beekeepers where shocked and stunned, when they learned, that their once thriving hives, had been emptied due to an occurence of colony collapse disorder.

colophon

According to the American Heritage Dictionary, a colophon is "An inscription placed usually at the end of a book, giving facts pertinent to its publication." As is often the case, sf fans got it backward and so generally put the colophon in the front of their fanzines. Wherever it's placed, it contains the editor/publishers' names, address(es) (sometimes telephone and/or fax numbers and/or email address(es)), the name of the fanzine, the issue number, copyright notice (if any) and anything else the zine editor may want to put in it.

"The idiot forgot to put a colophon in his fanzine!"

Leper Colony

That group of kids everybody knew in high school that individually were often the targets of derision and/or physical violence, but who through some geek radar found one another to form an alliance, thereby lessening the probability that any one member is a victim.

The reference to the middle-age practice of isolating individuals with Hansen's Disease (Leprosy) and not allowing them to come into contact with any "normal" people is apropos because if a "normal" (read non-geekified) child were to associate with the leper colony, s/he is immediately labeled as suspect, and in extreme cases will be isolated him/her self, thus becoming a member of the colony.

Mark's sister: "Mark has been indoctrinated into the Leper Colony and is at the park LARPing."

Mark's mom: "NO GOD, NOOOOOOOO!"

Discord Kitten Colony

A group of people in a Discord server/community who behave overly wholesome to the point of arousing suspicion as to how they actually behave behind closed doors, or will behave upon a mask off moment. They're generally seen in groups, posting hugging emotes upon seeing other specific users, making comments like calling others cute in the midst of an on-going conversation, and a few others.

Although it isn't all that common for someone in a Discord Kitten Colony to secretly be terrible people, it's incredibly noticable when they reveal themselves as such: typically by either starting a flame war, having a meltdown, or saying something to get banned.

"What's up with all those guys posting the :cuddle: emote when seeing each other?"
"Oh, don't pay much attention to them, that's just the server's Discord Kitten Colony."
"Any specific users I should be concerned about?"
"The guy with a Zero-Two PFP secretly hates gay people and the guy with the Courier Six avatar likes lolicon. The rest are normal. Well, relatively normal."
