Rating Agency

A 'rating agency' is a collective name for a group of arseholes that issue negative ratings to countries, companies and investment vehicles in order to enable their clients, especially banks, to asset strip them.

I see X rating agency have downgraded Y's sovereign debt...the banks are going to force the sale of public assets on the people, mark my words!

Employment Agency Promise

The wildly exaggerated amount of time, that a prospective employee is told by an Employment Agency that a job will last. Mainly used by desperate recruiters,as they know that the shorter amount of days offered, the less chance they are going to get anybody to do the job. Ergo they will miss out on their earner.

Phone rings and it is the local lacking in any honour or credibility employment agency. "Have you got your own PPE, a CSCS card, a pulse, a day glow vest and can you start yesterday? Good, we have a job helping to lay turf on a building site of ten houses which will last six months".
Person at the other end of the phone who has heard it all before - "No it won't, it will only be for about two days. I don't trust you, this is only another Employment Agency Promise !"

Captured Agency

An organization controlled by the group it is supposed to regulate.

Person 1: The hens are safe: the Federal Fox Stopping Agency (FFSA) is guarding the entire hen house.
Person 2: Um, the FFSA is a captured agency; everyone in charge there *is* a fox.

Person 1: Whatever, I trust them so much.

Person 2: Your hens, your choice. I'll put mine somewhere else.
Person 1: Not for long. Thanks to a new federal law, ALL hens must now be guarded by the FFSA only. If you try to put them somewhere else, the FFSA is fully authorized to eat them.

Person 2: There's your proof of a captured agency.
Person 1: Whatever, I trust them so much.

Lower-Intergovernmental Moratorium Agency (LIGMA)

Lower-Intergovernmental Moratorium Agency was established on February 10th, 2022, as an organisation responsible for postponing people's faults in the field of modern Internet: any bad thing that was said on Twitter, any opinion that is slightly controversial on any social media platform, any demonetized video on Youtube can be morally forgiven and reinforced with rhetorical support of us, LIGM Agency. Also this structure implies the existence of yet again one more LIGMA abbreviation, which you can use in case you are asked or just for fun. Right now, the agency consists of 'two and a half' people and is relatively unknown. LIGMA understands that reviving a dead meme might not be so funny, yet it still has its own style and feel. Also there is HIGMA (H stands for Higher), but we can't obtain much information about it.

Typically used by chucks trying to impress others by implying they work for the CIA.

Also used by people with a basic understanding of the intelligence business as a general reference to movie and television characters who are supposed to be spies.
