A skinhead is a person who holds punk and working class values to heart, and chooses to fight for that right. It began with an offshoot from the rude boy movement, but morphed into a few denominations: Trojan Skins, White Power/Blood and Honour Skins, Anarchist Commie Skins and a few others. Skins have a worldwide reputation for being racist (not always true) and violent(an important, defining aspect), but they're generally ok people if you don't cross them. unless your coloured and you meet a Nazi skin, then your fucked.
Skinhead drees included:
JACKETS: Bomber/flight, donkey jackets
TOPS: Ben Sherman shirts/polo shirts, tight and/or sleeveless t-shirts, possibly with Nazi/B+H or Trojan prints
JEANS: Levi/Wrangler straitlegs, rolled up to show off boots
BOOTS: Docs mostly, laces determine denomination (see www.wikipedia.com), but sometimes work boots or monkey boots. usually steel-capped to aid violence and protect feet. illustrate the working-class ethics of skins.
BRACES: 3/4 inch length, any more is seen to be faking being a skin. again, colours denote denominations.
HAIR: short obviously, between a number 1 and a number 4, but usually a 2 or 3. sometimes kickboxers moheichans are seen (short sides, slightly longer middle), but not often.
skins wear what they wear because its all ideal for fighting and living in shit. ive got a lot of skin friends and they all live in shit flats or squats. skins are categorically working class.
you shouldn't cross the local skins. they will eat you up and spit you out. and the cops will never find your body. if your a proper punk you'll be fine, but watch out if your a little chav/rudie cos they will hurt you.
all in all, dont hate skins cos they're violent and eletist. even the racist ones have good reasons for what they do.

skinhead was indeed a working class youth movement, born from hard mod and influenced by jamaican music which was born, and as far as many are concerned, died, in the late Sixties. As in every subculture, its adherents fetishised the sameness of their "difference", underlined this attitude by wearing a strict uniform, detailed exhaustively in other posts, and by adopting a very limited lifestyle and mindset- commonly xenophobic and espousing violence in the absence of an ability to THINK AND ACT INDIVIDUALLY OR WITH INTELLIGENCE. The very particular set of social circumstances which led to the birth of skinhead, or mod, or any of those retro boys' clubs, are gone now, but dense, insecure, defensive, uneducated spoiled lazy kids with chips on their shoulders who claim to be "working class" do love to dress up and look scary, don't they? Drinking massive quantities of lager goes a long way to drowning the niggling fear that they're all just try-hard wannabe losers who would sooner punch someone's teeth in than reason things out, and drunkenness gives them a great excuse to do this. Combing one's hair is just too much like hard work and requires too much imagination, so they shave it all off. Though the whole hyper-macho scene is blatantly homoerotic, skinheads tend to attract sad fat girls, it's true, with no self-esteem who secretly want to rescue them. Good luck, ladies.

They tend to blame blacks, gays, jews, tories...well, anyone else but themselves for this state of affairs. Their friendships and associations are based on beer, mutual assent to brutality and a "skinhead code", and, thusly, do not qualify as true friendships at all. No wonder they're crabby, chauvinist twats.

A skinhead is originally of Caribbean descent,The movement was adopted from the English Caribbeans by racist white English - totally killed the real meaning of what a skin represents! the oldskool SKA jazz reggae scene..

Typically a violent steakhead guy with no hair, boots and braces, and an IQ under 110. Tends to spout "oi oi oi" whenever the opportunity presents itself. Not necessarily racist, but usually conservative, patriotic, and steeped in jockish machismo. Drinks a lot of beer and has a massive chip on his shoulder. Loves to fight over anything. (Why are people who are so proud of being working class so hellbent on preserving the status quo, in which they are exploited by the bourgiousie?)
