A Kpoppie is a term used in the K-Pop community to describe a K-Pop fan who’s only been listening to the genre for a couple of months, but already acts like they know everything about it,
even though it’s painfully clear that they do not.
Kpoppies tend to be BTS and/or BLACKPINK stans as these are the
two groups representing K-Pop to the West and are the most
popular K-Pop groups by far. They treat these two groups as God’s gift to humanity and
trash pretty much any other group/artists that came before and after them, even if
said groups/artists are K-Pop veterans, e.g. SHINee and Girls’ Generation.
Kpoppies are irritating and condescending, as they believe they are a know-it-all when it comes to K-Pop (which, as I’ve already established, is FAR from the
truth). They are usually found on K-Pop Stan Twitter.
A: “I’m so proud of BTS for being the
first K-Pop act ever to
break into
America!”
B: “Ugh, I know right? They really paved the way.”
C: “So who’s gonna tell these kpoppies that Wonder Girls, 2NE1 and Girls’ Generation got in there first?”
