Well it's really a very unique and extrinsic term that can have a variety of meanings.

1. A man that does his best to treat a female but tends to fall short to a much greater man. But still tries.

2. A man that does his best in everything, but his rivals always are still better.

3. A man who acts like he knows what to do in any situation, but ultimately fails in the end.
