2. The doorman at a strip club who gets you into the club without telling you the real price of the drinks. Or a person that hypes you into a deal without disclosing the true cost of entry.
That bourbon street barker got me into the club, and his barkering cost me big time. He's a barker convincing me it would cost $20, but once he got me inside it cost me $100.

Verbally pretending by deceit to induce someone into a situation where the Barker knows a concealment but seduces the unknowing person into a situation with a fast talk and false bravado.
He sold me with his confident barkering and I failed to see he was just a fraud that caused me problems.

the barker effect

a person who has average/high levels of intelligence but is unbelieveably slow at undertaking menial tasks, such as washing up, pouring a glass of water or trying to tie their shoe laces. following in on from this, people who they then come into contact with, end up becoming slow at tasks they are involved with, even if they are usually efficient.
Ben: hey buddy, howcome you're taking so long? we're going to miss our flight?
