A very annoying song from the children's show,Lazytown, that has become a internet meme and as been made into dozens of variations on YouTube. The song is sung by the character Stingy , in witch he claims several objects to be"mine"
Guy 1: Hey what's with all the new variations of the mine song popping up all over youtube? That came out in 2005!
Guy 2: Because thats the power of memes.

Dan: This song is really good but it's only a minute and a half long.
Bud: Yeah, it's like a Beatles song.

The dull, monotonous sound produced by the wife for about one week every month when she's "got the painters in"...
I'm going down the pub - Barrymore's got his mates round for a pool party, and to make it worse the wife's singing the ketchup song!

It is a song (a single) that brings people in to listen and causes them to explore the band/genre after listening. After getting into the band/genre, the gateway song does not seem as great anymore. Those kinds of songs are identified with the band and are usually not as great as the other songs that the band has written. Not to be confused with songs that are one-hit wonders.
Guy 1: Welcome Home is an awesome song by Coheed and Cambria.
Guy 2: Dude, that song sucks. It's just a gateway song. They have way better songs.

Any song with pulse shattering vocals and face melting guitar solos. This type of song will never be heard on the radio as the general public couldn't possibly comprehend all its majesty and splendor. Songs of this magnitude are more scarce than a seal in a shark tank. So don't go naming every Nickeback single you hear epic. In fact if you listen to nickelback an epic song would break you.
Iron Maidens Number of the Beast! This little hell raiser from the 80s Is a massively epic song. Listen at your own risk and keep it away from women, children, and babie kittens.
