pappyslap

n. an admonishment or scolding from your father (or -- whoever's the boss man of your house) which is delivered in front of another family member(s), usually the boss woman of the house, to make it seem like you are being properly disciplined for bad behavior, but in reality the dressing down is for show, and you know the one scolding is on your side, has no issue with your actions, and is just pretending to be righteous to appease the other family member. To be distinguished from a pappyslam, which is a show of genuine anger and/or disgust.
v. to scold a youth still under one's watch without seriousness in fact, but to satisfy the demands of another authoritative family member.

Preppy

A word used by "wannabees", if you will, to describe the New England-Old Money crowd. Typically used by wanabee middle school girls who attempt to dress in a way like the aforementioned, and really want to go to a private boarding school but cannot afford it. This style is also popular with the nouveau riche. Because of these kinds of people attempting to live this lifestyle, it has given the clothing generally worn by this crowd a bad name, and the people who originally wore it alas, can do so no longer.

Girl in brain: I want to be preppy and go to a "preppy" school but I cant afford it so I guess I will just have to dress like I do.

Smart, very pretty girls or rugged, well-built guys who wear couture (Anne Klein, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, Stella McCathney), drive cool cars, Porshe and Ferrari, go to boarding school (anywhere, east coast or west - like in Atherton, CA or Dover, MA) and get everything that they want. the guys play sports like soccer, lacrosse etc. and they travel a lot and like exotic stuff. (Some of them do alot to help the poor.)

Some are snobs and some are not.

Paris Hilton is a snobbish (trashy) Preppy, Kate Hudson is not.

all of the people on here who are saying that preppy is a lifestyle are obviously preppy people who are tired of being made fun of. Preppy means that you wear expensive name brands and like really girly stuff like make-up boots tote bags coffee cheerleading and being a stuck up bitch for no appearant reason. And yes preppy people are rich (welll-off means the same fucking thing)

preppy-scene kid

A kid that wears clothes that are skater clothes such as volcom, element, hurley, DC shoe co., billabong, roxy, etc. They also wear preppy clothes only american eagle. The girls wear hoodys alot with tank tops under them, tee shirts, with only long tight blue jeans. Guyz wear hoodys with t-shirts under, just t-shirts, blue jeans only. The girls do not wear skirts. They are nice when people are nice to them and if your mean to them they will be mean back. They are kinda hard to get along with. The girls are tomboys. The guyz are skaters. They like the bands Hollywood Undead, Hawthorne Heights, Panic! at the disco, rap music, metal, punk, anyting popular except pop, country and all that techno shit and shit like that. Their favorite food place is mcdonalds. They have myspace. They hate rednecks and races. Some girls wear make-up and some dont, they dont over do it. They dont cut their selves. The girls wear their hair down all the time. They get highlights in their hair, no weird colors though they keep it normal colors. The girl straighten their hair. The guyz have skater hair. They hate goths. They are different from preppy kids and scene because they are both of those mixed.

Preppy-scene kids are deep.
