"My girlfriend was telling me about this John Cale album I think you'd like."
"Are you joking? I was the one who told you about Paris 1919. You're a victim of the Sellers Effect."

Watching someone struggle and try to incorrectly solve / play / use a simple puzzle / game / item for so long, that you get enraged and obtain the same puzzle / game / item just to solve it, just to satisfy your need for the easier solution, which you figured out while watching the person.
"Holy crap, I was watching Northernlion play 'Baba Is You' and he just would not GET how easy it is to solve that level, so I just gave up and bought the game myself and beat it."
"Yeah dude, I almost broke my screen, screaming the answer at him, and got the game too."
"It's like The Northernlion Effect or something, it keeps happening every time I watch him play a game."

When you give up all hope on doing something absolutely ridiculous and convoluted, you successfully do that insanely idiotic thing you were doing.
SimpleFlips: I'm never doing this trick. I'm a failure, a fraud, and a villain. There is no hope for me ever doing this in a MILLION years.
