A person who escorts and/or watches over another (the “Charge”) to ensure that the other is safe and is not “hit on” unreasonably by others. A Protector can and often will allow others to interact with the charge. A Protector-charge relationship is usually an open relationship and can involve elements of Dominance, service, training and/or scening, at the option of the parties. The inclusion of these elements is usually left to express negotiation and agreement between the parties. A Protector-charge relationship generally is not expected to last for a long term, but generally may last for one or several months.

Historically one of New Orleans' most crime-ridden areas, mass demolition and other efforts drastically reduced the crime occurring in the neighborhood. It was located across Florida avenue from the Florida Projects. For its deplorable condition, it was known among locals as "Dirty D". The Desire, which once had over 262 buildings, was completely torn down by 2003. Two of the original buildings were preserved for historical purposes. The area was in the midst of re-development and new construction when Hurricane Katrina inundated the historically low lying area. When it was built in 1949, several other buildings were cleared to make room, including the Hideaway Club, where Fats Domino played regular gigs. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary announced that by July 2007, 100 of the eventual 500 houses would be built, as part of a development dubbed the "New Desire" or "Abundance Square".

Aww shit... i used to live in cyppress and let me tell you if you dressed "fly" bumz in the projetcs will eventually rob you, Last year some guy was by himself and was wearing jordans and some hoodrats from cyppress came up to him and asked him for his sneakers, he said no, so they beat him up and stabbed himand left him with no neakers... the best thing about the projects was watching these lowlives getting killed and leaving that shithole.
