Toxic friend

-a “friend” who belittles you, bully’s you, or hurts your feelings in general
-a person who you care about even though they probably don’t care for you

-a person who you like when you’re around them, but hate when you’re away from them
-when you are with other friends you realize how much you hate them

-could also be controlling
-someone you continue to be friends with because of guilt issues, years you’ve known each other etc.
-similar to fake friends

Friendcest. Noun. The act of interdating among a cliche or crowd of friends. Also dating a friend's ex. or sibling.
Alt. spelling: frencest.

Friendcestuous. Adj. describing a group of friends who have all dated each other, each other's exes, and each other's family members or an individual in said group. A small dating pool, the equivalent of a small gene pool.

You: I can't believe she is dating her friend's ex. again. After having dated her friend's brother too!

Friend Poaching

When one friend befriends another through your introduction, soon putting more effort into that person than you do, simultaneously making you seem less desirable and devaluing both your original friendships. This can happen consciously or unconsciously. Notably, one does not tend to ever make any new friends for themselves through the friend poacher.

I used to be close with Guy until I introduced him to Buddy, who started inviting him out all the time; I think Buddy is friend poaching, especially considering I've never met any good friends through him.

Friends

Friends are people that get along with another person. They can only be the friends if they have differences that set them apart and have the odd argument. If you don't argue and them being around seems awkward, they are probably a fake friend, maybe pretending to be your friend for an audience, for fame, for your time and money or simply because they like you but is afraid to ask to be your friend.
They stand up for you against anything, because they are loyal and love you, and you should do the same back.

Friends will help out and will never talk badly about you behind your back or betray you in any way.

Second String Friend

Noun: a friend who is usually only called upon by a friend when a more primary/prominent friend is unavailable.

Taken from the term “second string” in an athletic competition situation. In football, if the star quarterback gets injured during a play, the second string is called off the bench to replace him/her. A “Second String Friend” is essentially benched until needed, if ever.

Synonyms: Plan B, Second Choice, Secondary Friend, Benched Until Needed

I got a call from X the other night. She had an extra ticket to a concert she bought for a friend, but they couldn’t make it so she called me to ask if I wanted to go because I am her Second String Friend.
