I like you for who you are

A manipulative figure of speech which is almost always used in conjuction with a let-down, when somebody who is particularly popular or attractive is trying to politely tell somebody with quite an opposite set of characteristics exactly how little he or she would like to do with them, and would rather see them be raped by a vicious group of baboons than, for example, date them.

"You may have had your arms, legs and penis amputated in that bizarre construction accident, Charles, and that does bothers me a little. You should understand, though, that I like you for who you are, and that we can still, um, be friends."
