A person who gets themselves involved with a high-profile individual, usually for the attention from the media.

Often, a hanger-on has little to no talent in a particular area of media; usually only cares about the publicity that comes with being a celebrity. All of this explains why they do what they do. These people are often accused of being "attention whores" or "gold-diggers" and other derogatory terms like the the ones named.

Otherwise known as being "famous for being famous".

Before Kim Kardashian became famous, she was great friends with heiress Paris Hilton. Was she a hanger-on?

harper... literally my favorite person. gorgeous, amazing, and stubborn, she has an amazing sense of humor and can brighten your day with just her smile. she accepts people for who they are and can finish a netflix series in less than a week. she's there for her friends whenever they need her and is always ready for an adventure. she's one of the funniest people you'll ever meet and her laugh is contagious. harper is the kind of person that can joke around all day and have a super deep conversation with you five minutes later. her spontaneity and honesty make her an incredible friend and I'm so lucky to have her.
