Doomsday Defense

The Doomsday Defense was the nickname given to the famous defensive of the American football team the Dallas Cowboys during their late 1960s - 1970s dynasty years. This defense was the backbone of the Cowboys' dynasty, which won two Super Bowls (VI, XII) and played in three more (V, X and XIII).

Often recognized as two different generations of the famed "Doomsday Defense". However, there is no agreed-upon definition of exactly when those defenses existed or who their members were, which is why you may see different listings of players and time periods. The original "Doomsday Defense" can generally be identified as the Cowboys' defenses from 1966 to 1975. "Doomsday II" had its heyday from approximately 1976 to 1982. "Doomsday III" was created in the 2009-10 season.

The first defensive player to win the Super Bowl MVP was linebacker Chuck Howley (V). Later linemen Harvey Martin and Randy White became the first (and only) teammates (co-MVPs) to win the award (XII).

Plasma Defender

A fairly powerful, pistol like plasma weapon that uses energy cells as it's primary ammunition. It's found in Fallout New Vegas and is similar to the weapon obtainable in the original Fallout I and II (under the name "Plasma Pistol" in the first two games).

Global Defense Inititive

One of two fighting factions in the Command & Conquer series of games. Generally considered "the good guys," GDI takes it upon themselves to keep peace in the world while keeping the Brotherhood of Nod in its place.

Star wars defense

An Absurd system of satalites, antiballistic missiles, lasers, mirrors, and ground based intercepter missiles...capable of targeting and neutralizing any incoming missiles, through the use of a three stage system, within two to three hours of the missiles having hit their targets...

...well let's see, two to three hours for the targeting system to lock onto a missile at any given point, and about 30 minutes for that missile to hit its target...(and yes I have a source on this, someone who wrote the guidance program for SDI)
*obviously a very effective, and certianly real, non-made-up, program, not an excuse for embesselment(**sarcasm**)
-SDI relied on non-existant technology and computer systems that didn't yet exist

...The National Missile Defense, under GeorgeW., is not SDI, and in fact has no connection to it at all. It is a much more realistic approach to grounding incoming balistic missiles, that relies soley on ground based missiles, similar to the patriot missiles. Despite its complete lack of success in intercepting missiles, it is a much more convincing method of embesselment. And while the only succesful test was fixed, it is a promissing tool, that can at somepoint in the distant future, be used to counter the true threat to National Security in the modern world, the Evil Soviet Union (*no wait*) (*that doesn't exist anymore*)
The Strategic Defense Initiative Was A Realistic National Security Measure, relying on Space based laser power, and the pentium4 processor(quick no one tell Reagan, that it didn't exist in the '80s)

Defender

The best arcade game ever. Fiendishly hard game where you had to destroy evil aliens before they killed all the humans on the planet below. Used a awful button scheme with 5 buttons and a joystick, but still quite fun.

zombie defense initiative (ZDI)

Just what is the ZDI? We're a group of like minded individuals who realise the dangers presented by reanimated corpses. We enjoy classic and modern zombie movies and literature, and we have lengthly conversations that start with two questions: What if, and What Would I do?

Fact: 99.9997% of all college students are unprepared for a large scale zombie disaster
Fact: No federal funding is allocated towards a specialized zombie defense program
Fact: Preparation is the only provenly effective weapon against the undead

Can you honestly say you're ready for a zombie attack?

Learn the truth about decapitation, the effectiveness of fire, and the importance of a well thought out plan.

Join up with ZDI and form a local chapter. Figure out defense plans and evacuation routes from your dormitory. Assemble a crack team and start training. Study the ways of Bruce Campbell. Its not a question of if they'll rise. Its a question of when.

The Zombie Defense Initiative now has chapters at the following insitutions of higher learning:

Nurenburg defence

"Just obeying orders". This means precisely what it says.Failure to obey orders for Germans in any of the armed forces meant the firing squad or punishment battalion.Incompetence also equalled failure to obey orders.A punishment battalion usually meant that your days were numbered. So strictly adhering to orders was the only option for Germans in WW2.And of course not all would have been "nazis" ie members of NSDAP.Putting the General Staff of a nation on trial is definitely a dangerous precedent.
