cap session

the act of making fun of another person, usually in a group setting by hurling jokes or most likely derogatory insults at one another, about looks, moms, clothes, cars, hair, or anything conceivable. Often the insults are spontaneous or off the top of the head. Often the insults don't make sense, but to those involved they are funny.

The term is used by people from California, particularly East Oakland. Often called joning, cut down, snapping, jiving, playing the dozens in other regions.
