a saying that is used when someone doesn't understand a piece of media/literature. refers to the show/manga "chainsaw man."

Person 1: "The man who was murdered in the story the Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe was actually alive the whole time and it was his heart was beating in the floorboards!"
Person 2: "The reading comprehension devil strikes again!"

reading assignment

Something that teachers assign nearly every night. Students don't usually give a crap and read the assigned material, only to be in shock when there's a quiz on it the next day. On Rate My Professors, they can easily be denoted if they have the Get Ready to Read tag.

I heard our new teacher's a really tough grader. He puts out reading assignments every class and ends up quizzing you on it the next day.

Reading Blindness

When there's a term in a text/book you are reading, and you don't know what the term means, nor is it being defined further into the text. You don't understand what the term adds to the context of what you're reading.

"This topic deals with the philosophy of egalitarianism. It plays a great part in..."

You: "Um... reading blindness much? Is this going to explain what egalitarianism is to us or no?"

Akin to the phrase “Reading between the lines” reading between the texts is a phrase used to describe the confusion of tone and implication in texting, especially with the member of preferred sex.

She texted me “Hey” but with 2 y’s. Maybe she thinks I’m cute, but I could be reading between the texts.
