This amnesia happens when you grow seeds, watch most die, plant the ones that survived, water them until they grow, & get upset when many got killed by fungi / diseases or are eaten by insects / animals. You put so much hard work your garden and your brain suppresses the bad outcomes. Thus, you forget how hard it was (hence amnesia). You end up doing the same cycle the very next year because you forgot how hard it was the year before.
