hop block

(Spinoff of "cock block".) A hop block occurs when one person impedes another person's attempt to drink beer. Usually a spouse/significant other, but could be any friend, co-worker, or a complete stranger.

I had the bartender's attention for a moment, but the hot blonde at the other end of the bar keeps hop-blocking me.

I can't meet you to watch the game today. My wife pulled a major hop block by scheduling a hairdresser appointment, and I have to watch the kids.
