When you run into someone going opposite ways in a hallway and both you and the other person keep trying to get by each other but you both keep going the same way side to side.

I tried getting around Ryan in the hallway but we kept doing the pass dance.

Getting shafted out of something that you wanted, usually at work, because of some rule of "politeness" or "team spirit". From the movie "Office Space", when the ratio of people to cake was too big and Milton was told to keep passing it, so eventually everybody gets a piece except for him.

A slang term referring to a police badge, glamorized on many shows such as CSI as a "pass" which can be flashed to gain access to restricted areas.

This term has been used - but doesn't necessarily originate - on an episode of CSI: Miami.

"Beware, that area of town is closed down now."

"No worries, I've got the brass pass..."
