Part of the "rules of the internet", made in early 2006 by someone in the /b/ section of 4chan who fancies the site a secret underground.

Due to the /b/ section being overrun with users from sites such as Gaia Online and MySpace, these rules were accepted, and more people took part in the illusion that 4chan is a SUPAR SECRAT CLOBHAUS. Despite the fact that these two rules state that you shouldn't talk about /b/, some people will cite "RULES 1 AND 2!!" every time 4chan (or even a meme) is mentioned outside of the site.

Thankfully, this vermin of stupidity remains contained in /b/, so people who cite rules 1 and 2 in other boards are bound to get flamed and hopefully banned.

Majority Rules

Elusive 'rule' or 'law' that can be invoked to carry through the will of the majority. The last word in all decision making processes, whether this be in persuading others to go on a lovely trip to the park, or something altogether more serious. If the majority of people agree about something, e.g. going to the park, and someone says 'Majority Rules' then everyone must do what the majority want. In the same way, can also be used to prove or disprove facts (however ridiculous), in that if the majority agree that something is true/untrue then it is true/untrue - the 'rule' is thus useful for winning arguments where you know others will agree with you.
Arguably pretty much just democracy distilled to the level of petty playground rivalry.

I couldn't be sacked going to the park man, but Mike and that Majority Rules'd me so I had to go.

dating rules

Fictional rules invented by girls to confused guys, during a relationship. Generally, these rules contradict eachother, and it is impossible to follow them correctly.

There is the common "statement" form, encountered when an action is illegal:
"John! You moved my lettuce to shelf four of the refridgerator! that is so against the rules!"
Also common is the "impossible question" form, where no correct answer is possible:
"Tim. Does this dress make me look fatter than normal?"
"Do you know what day it is today?"
Rare, but still worth mentioning, is the "invented" form:
"This form was invented to fill up some space on the page"

Rules of the Internet is a list of protocols and conventions, originally written to serve as a guide for those who identified themselves with the Internet group Anonymous. The list serves as a summation of popular catchphrases and axioms commonly associated with 4chan. Since there are numerous drafts and editions in circulation, the rules fluctuate in number and the validity of each rule remains debatable. Despite this, several of the rules including Rule 34 and Rule 63 are agreed upon across internet communities.

The idea of making a set of rules, similar to Netiquette for 4chan users, was initially talked about on Anonymous-related IRC channels before an entry was submitted to Encyclopedia Dramatica sometime in late 2006 and archived on January 10th, 2007. The entry was highly debated on its discussion page as well as the site’s forums. At the time of the archival, there were 18 rules in the entry, despite it mentioning that 48 existed.
