In Australia a wowser is someone who believes other people having fun is bad. An enviro-wowser is someone who frowns on other people's activities if they are believed to use too many resources. It's a modern form of wowserism for the middle class.

The enviro-wowser was annoyed because we had lights on at the party. The enviro-wowser was shocked to see her date drive up in a V8.

Anyone who is arrogant about his extreme "green practices" and imposes his values on everyone all the time. He usually thinks of himself as open-minded and non-judgmental, when in reality, he is often the most judgmental one in the room. This person will often bring up global warming or recycling at inappropriate times and gets offended when others don't agree with everything he says.

Steve needs to lighten up with the environ-elitist behavior. Last week after his grandpa's funeral, he yelled at his grandmother for not buying eco-friendly toilet paper.

Although their ideals make some sense, these peole just can't accept that extinction, global climate changes, and pollution happen all the time, (even though we are just hurrying that along). They were quite active during the 1990s, when they used the Millenium Doomsday prophecies in a futile attempt to get people to reduce pollution and save the environment (anyone remember Captain Planet?).

All of the environmentalis's efforts to save the seals were to waste when a small earthquake caused a massive landslide off some tiny island, which sent a massive tsunami that wiped out the seal's breeding grounds.
