Get the Royal Palace Closemug. Refers to a kind of house style seen across most Australian cities, named for their Italian style and the Italian people who built them.
Can be described in simple terms as "Tuscan or Mediterranean Villa" style, most likely constructed during 70s and 80s but many remain to this day. Will always be of brick and tile construction, occasionally have stucco cladding, make frequent use of arches and can be one or two storeys tall. Some of the more lavish designs will have Roman style columns, porticoes and concrete statues. Often have satellite dishes and may even have ceramic tiling on balconies and patios, are divided into many small rooms inside.
