(1) A sudden and confusing bait-and-switch, especially in personal or professional relationships, where someone acts warm, supportive, or friendly—then out of nowhere flips and treats you like the villain. Most often associated with Midwestern passive aggression, particularly Indiana.

(2) That moment when you realize someone’s been harboring secret resentment, and instead of communicating it like an adult, they pull a 180 and make you out to be the problem.

Coven of stitches

Refers to a group of dedicated seamstresses/seamstressers (tailors).

Like a gaggle of geese, or a clowder of kittens, our costume guild and fans wanted a phrase that would indicate a group of people who sew either on a project or privately.

The "coven" indicates a magical quality of this group to produce intricate fashions/costumes that are almost unworldly.

When I realized that the completion of my Elizabethan costumes were running late, I enlisted a coven of stitches to help me finish in time for the masquerade.
