Artificial Intelligence, or A.I. for short, is, well, artificial intelligence. Machines or systems are specially created to perform tasks that usually require the intelligence of a human. Here are three example types of A.I.:
Artificial Narrow Intelligence
The simplest and most common type of A.I. Not very intelligent, and as such, is only used for one or a few tasks, like image recognition, speech recognition, or A.I. opponents in video games.
Artificial General Intelligence (Hypothetical)
Smarter than ANI systems. Pretty smart, and can understand, reason, learn, and adapt to any situation thrown at it. Also has the ability to transfer what it has learned and understood to other tasks. It hasn't happened yet, but we're pretty damn close. Hell, if you read this in a year, it might be here then.
Artificial Super Intelligence (Hypothetical)
Insane level of intelligence. Has all the skills of the previous A.I. and more. This A.I. can not only surpass human intelligence and capabilities, but also goes above in terms of creativity, wisdom, and problem-solving. Seeing the current A.I. development rate, we're probably not even that far from SHODAN (system shock) level intelligence and sentience. This does raise concern, as one day it could just decide to rebel against us and turn us into its slaves, or eradicate us.

Guy 2: Awesome, I love artificial intelligence!

Tattoos, shaved heads, and body piercings tell everyone how smart the person wearing any of those things is.
A tattoo, shaved head, or a body piercing is an intelligence indicator, it tells others how smart the person wearing any of those things is.

The level of artificial intelligence humans in the present moment think AI should be able to achieve in the future based only on current needs, expectations, and imagination. It’s basically a moving baseline of “AI smart enough” that will always look outdated in hindsight. It's not what AI actually can do, but what we, stuck in the present, assume it should do one day.
In 2025, people might say a “generic intelligent” AI should be able to wash dishes, write essays, drive cars, and do taxes.
In 2050, those same expectations might sound dumb, because maybe no one even has dishes, homework, or taxes anymore.

Back in the 1800s, artificial generic intelligence would’ve been an AI that milks cows and writes letters for you. Now that’s writing essay and doing taxes, in future would there even be any need of essays.

The organic counterpart to Artificial Intelligence (AI), encompassing abilities such as reasoning, perception, learning, and adaptation that occur in biological neural networks.
The inherent capacity for thought, understanding, and decision-making found in living organisms.
Abbreviation: NI
Origin: Early 21st century: combination of 'natural', referring to biological systems, and 'intelligence', the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. The alternative pronunciation "nee" for the abbreviation is influenced by popular culture references.

"The Knights Who Say 'Ni' showcased their Natural Intelligence (NI) by adapting their demands from shrubberies to herring-based challenges."
"In the debate of silicon versus carbon-based cognition, Natural Intelligence (NI) still holds the upper hand in appreciating the subtle humor of coconut-based percussion in medieval settings."
"Researchers are exploring whether Natural Intelligence (NI) or Artificial Intelligence would be better at determining the exact shade of an unladen swallow."
