Spattergram

A spattergram is an instrument used for assessing a client's topics of interest in preparation for organizational design. It is a simple tool that consists of randomly placed concepts (spattered words), on a piece of paper and the client is instructed to circle the top x number of terms as possible topics of interest. (x is equal to 1/3 of the whole) It is used to start the conversation within a given range of possibilities.

When designing a day of learning for an adult learning client group, we had them self-select words from a "spattergram". We then referred to the selected words when conversing about what most interested the client to have us present on the day of learning.

scatter technique

A technique used by a man to pick up women to try and get laid, where the man asks woman after woman if she wants to go home with him until one of them says yes. He will usually get slapped a lot but it eventually works.

Example A:
Guy 1: I don't stand a chance at getting laid. These ladies here are too uptight.
Guy 2: Just try the scatter technique. You're guaranteed to succeed eventually.

Example B:
Guy 1: I tried the scatter technique and it worked on the eleventh woman. I got slapped by the first ten.
Guy 2: Was it worth it?
Guy 1: You betcha. It's always guaranteed to work.

In the manner of bloodstain splatter analysis, shatter analysis attempts to identify the dietary habits of individuals who spray public toilets with explosive diarrhea.

Investigator: "Judging by the consistency and scale of the cone-shaped spray pattern, my shatter analysis tells me our victim was likely lactose intolerant and had either consumed chipotle, Thai food, or barbecue--followed by a large milk shake for dessert."
