poetry is a form of writing used to express someone's feelings/opinions/a moment. it can rhyme and it can NOT rhyme. also, there is freeverse, where there is no rhyming scheme and no set numbers of lines in a verse.

slam poetry

The poetry that thrives in a culture of non-readers. Very sincere, bad poetry. Delivered in front of and given encouragement from a small group of people who are also bad poets. Slam poets think that their poetry is more powerful if they just yell it. Sincerely painful to listen to. It's bad poetry. They try very hard, but they have no idea what they're doing.

Most slam poetry could be better classified as motivational speaking or stand-up comedy.

Deaf Poets

A Miami based Bluesy-Garage rock band formed in late 2009. Comprised of panty drip maker frontman Sean Wouters and the monogamous, Nikolas Espinosa.

Basically, they're the only underground group from Miami that is worth spending two and a half minutes over to like/love their driven, epic music.
