Theatrisis

A syndrome in which students and sometimes even faculty and adults are saddened by the completion of a musical or play a cast and crew have spent a long period of time working on, getting to know each other, and memorizing lines and/or song lyrics. This syndrome is also in response to the somber missing of traditions, the daily routine and inside jokes.

Side effects include:
-Humming, singing or quoting parts from the finished musical or play
-Quoting memorable demands or pieces of advice from the director
-Tear shedding
-Not having a life after school

Theatrisis is a debilitating syndrome that affects mainly teenagers nationwide.

Theatrisis can be treated by occasional or often get togethers with former cast and crew. However there is no true cure to Theatrisis.

Although this is its most common name, Theatrisis also goes by: Theatrosis, Musicalitis, PSS (Post Stage Syndrome), Wendy's Syndrome, Shackleford's Syndrome.
After the recent closing of 'A Chorus Line' at Jamestown High School in Williamsburg, VA, much of the cast began to show signs of Theatrisis, though many have dealt with the syndrome previously.

Theatrical Version

Tweaking the events of a story so it makes you look better after telling it.
Person 1: Why did you say you told that guy off? He totally made you wet yourself.

Person 2: Shut up man! I gave them the theatrical version so they don't know I have bladder problems.

Person 1: Bladder problems? Now I'm getting the theatrical version.

Theatrical Cough

A cough that is so unnecessarily forced, loud and over the top , that it requires a nomination for an academy award .
As I sat in the living room, I could hear his theatrical cough from three floors above me ...Bravo! ...bravo!

cheap theatrics

Insincere emotions and behavior intended to achieve a desired outcome or to be perceived as the victim. This phrase is similar to “crocodile tears” but this phrase is saying that they are putting up a big act that is not appropriate to the situation.
Person A: (points to his ear telling someone their boombox is too loud)
Person B: starts crying and says “You (Person A) embarrassed me in front of everyone”
Person A: “Stop the cheap theatrics! It’s not a big deal to be told to turn down the music”

cheap theatrics

Insincere emotions and behavior intended to achieve a desired outcome or be perceived as the victim. One’s behavior is inappropriate to the situation at hand and is obviously a bad acting job.
*During a spin class*
Person A: (points to hear and then points index finger down mouthing it is too loud!
Person B: (stops the music and starts crying) “You embarassed me in front of everyone and made be feel terrible”
Person A: “Stop the cheap theatrics. It’s not a big deal that I told you that the music is too loud. It’s nothing personal”
