A dysphemism for a hard disk drive, which historically consisted of a rotating platter of iron oxide (modern hard drives may use other materials).

Rotating rust has much higher latency than SSDs.

This is seen mainly in Xbox gamertags. People will make a gamertag such as xXxLeGiTsNiPeRxXx, which has rotating caps. This is basically when there is a word or phrase that alternates between lowercase and uppercase letters.

John: Alright, what's your gamertag?
Jeff: xXxLeGiTsNiPeZxXx
John: ... are you serious...
