quailtard

Quailtard is a word combining "Quail," a mid-sized game bird of the pheasant family, and "tard," a contraction of the noun "retard," an often offensive word used to describe the mentally challenged, or retarded. First used on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. The word was used in humorous reference to the farm-raised quail released for hunting by Vice President, Dick Cheney, and others on Katharine Armstrong's south Texas ranch. On February 11, 2006, while hunting these quail, Cheney accidentally shot hunting companion, Harry M. Whittington, a lawyer from Austin, TX, with his 28 gauge shotgun from a reported distance of thirty yards.

Among the many aspects of the story that became fodder for late night television comedians, were the quail themselves, and the whole idea of such staged hunting.

Quasilationship

A romantic association between two people where one or more of the parties involved refuse to call it a "relationship", or use the words "girlfriend" and "boyfriend" for fear of attachment or commitment. The behavior of those involved is identical to an actual relationship, except commitments and expectations are not explicit but merely implied. Often defined by social networking sites as "its complicated".

San Quentin Quail

The phrase "San Quentin Quail" refers to getting sent up for violating California's law protecting minors. At least one country and western song and a 1940's R&B song dealt with the subject and even used the phrase for the title. Duke Henderson had the R&B song on United Artists and on Excelsior, while Carl Knight had his country record come out of the Dearborn label from the Detroit are. There is another country artist who I think covere Carl's song.
