Pseudophone

From the Ancient Greek ψευδής (pseudḗs, “false, lying”) and -φωνος (-phōnos, “with respect to language or sound”).

1. A pretentious term for a word which is pronounced similarly to another word without being perfect homophones.

2. An instrument used to reverse the apparent directions of sounds heard.

pseudopregnancy

A pregnancy that definitely isn’t real, but is a girl’s (or boy’s!) excuse for gaining weight.
Good thing I didn’t ask about the baby, ’cause I found out later they were only have a pseudopregnancy together. Too bad he forgot that men don’t show for a few years.

Pseudovarnish

Pseudovanish is a technique used to add a varnished look to digital printed copies by way of emulating varnish using the normal colour print process colour to make an overprinted varnished looking layer. Sometimes looking like a watermark.

Pseudoprofessional

Someone who is posing as a professional, but isn't quite there yet. Often they are at their first job ever, or fresh out of college and just don't understand why going to work on time is important, or why their boss is mad if they don't call or show up one day. Commonly used in student employment.
