gothic

1. A person who has sincerely immersed themselves in a stoic and depressingly good literature, is rather solemn and is gothic because of a state of mind not the clothes, black nails, or music.
2. Some jerkoff who wants to be definition number one but is just a retarded teenager confuzed by puberty and taking it out on the world, catagorizing themselves, and shopping at the all-mighty evil, Hot Topic... because they think its all about how they dress and what they listen to.
For definition 1-
The gothic culture was always been looked down upon due to a lack of social acceptance
For Definition 2-
"Dude. check out the new clothes and lipstick i got from hot topic. i am so gothic" <--should be shot.

gothic

Of or relating to goth and the subculture thereof. Older adherents of the subculture (it's been around since the 1970s, people) prefer to call themselves "gothic" rather than "goths". The term is reminiscent of a style of medieval architecture and intended to bring to mind images of gargoyles, stone arches and funerary monuments.
There is no "gothic movement". Get over it.

gothic

to me gothic isnt a just a style of clothing it is a state of mind also. im so sick of people saying your goth if you wear black for a whole week stright!! you prepy poeple need to get over your selves and stop talking a bout people to make yourself feel better. you only do it because you world isnt as good as everyone elses and you try to make other peoples worse than yours. you don't get it some people get sick of it and go home and kill there selves because you made the feel unwanted.
now back to gothic to me it is a state of mind not a life style being goth if you are doesn't mean you worship the devil it doesn't have to mean you worship god either it doesn't mean you worship anyone it means you like dark things and that you enjoy life the way you want to live it !!
you know people can't bow to your every weem. people now-a-days need to tend to to there selves first then everyone elses. i am a VERY MAD 13 year old girl tried of the worl and its stupid fits. i am told that i am more grown up then most adults by other adults that i am . it also scares me to know that i a 13 year old girl seems to be more mature than most adults. now sometimes i am my a wee bit childish but that is normaly when i am with my friends i get a little out of hand but who dosent.
my real prefrence of the word gothic is someone whom is their selves lives life to the fullest and is not afraid to laugh out loud!!!!!
at the moment i cant thik of any kind of gothic example

gothic

Gothic can mean a lot of things. Mainly to be devided among 3 categories.
1. Gothic is a music style.
2. Gothic is a clothing style.
3. Gothig is a way of thinking.

Opinions about what makes someone a real goth are very different. People can favour one of the three above things, without necessarily having to favour the other 2. A lot of time 2 or 3 of them are combined.

Gothic music came out of punk music. Punk music is mostly angry at the world. But goth was more saying: "There are a lot of evils in the world, and that makes me very sad." Gothics tend to make the world better and are very friendly people most of the times (every culture has rotten apples).
The clothing style contains a lot of corsets, dresses, spikes, hairfall/dreadlocks, military boots, etc.
A lot of people mistake gothic for being depressive, the clothing style only black, etc.
The gothic way of thinking is mostly kind. Goths tend to treat everything with the same respect, love nature, a small (or big) love for dark unknown things or fantasy (like vampire's, cemetary's, wearwolves) and accept everyone as they are.

Unlike how a lot of people think, gothic is not bound to any form of religion.
Wrong: "That kid is wearing nothing but black, what a goth."
Good: "You listen to industrial? What other gothic styles of music do you like?"
Good: "You like the poetry of Edgar Allen Poe? It has been quoted in Tim Burton's movie 'Vincent', which was very goth-like don't you think?"

gothic

In relation to goth, gothic is a form of sterotype to the people who:
- wear black or victorian style, colorful mixed with black, or anything that may seem "dark"
- wear black eyeliner and like dramatic effects on their eyes (sometimes entire face)
- may have black hair, but a lot have other colors
- like music such as gothic music, death meta and dark metal....some bands may include the cure, sisters of mercy, and bauhaus
- typically wear black nailpolish supposably, but many wear bright colors
Basically people call other people gothic or goths because they wear black but not all do. It is a stereotype, and people think "gothic" people worship the devil, other gods, or are atheist or agnostic, or are wiccan. Those are religions, not all of these people worship those. I, being called a goth many times... believe that it's not right to call people this or any other name because they do not wear pink most of the time. Black is just a color, and some of us like it. I wear black and overall I'm a pretty friendly person to most people. I am not "gothic", but have been called this many times and it's not a nice thing to say. It's a stereotype that people use who know absolutely nothing about this. Not everyone who wears black or listens to certain music is suicidal or anything of the sort. Get over it, and get a life, stop making fun of people for being who they are if you don't like so called gothic people.
Gothic is a stereotype for people who wear black.
What people don't know is that people who are so called gothic don't always wear black.
