Flanging

Pronounced 'flan-jing', the act of mixing two audio signals together, with one being delayed by a small and slowly changing period producing an output signal with peaks and troughs in a harmonic series. Flangers are similar to phasers (phase-shifting, beyond the scope of this definition) however, if you listen intently enough, you can hear the difference.

The flange effect can best be described (to those who never studied wave mechanics) as a jet sound; sounds like a jet aircraft passing by the listener. Phasing on the other hand sounds much more alien and "other-worldly".

While used in all sorts of different music, flangers are most heavily used in psychedelic and dreamy music where strong harmonics and a "wall-of-sound" depth are often sought - used with good reason too, flanging sounds insanely beautiful when you're as high as a kite. ;)

I was listening to Slowdive's Machine Gun shortly after returning from another galaxy. Coming down, the flanging was simply too beautiful for my human ears, so I cried and reassessed existence.

n. The act of wearing keys, colored handkerchiefs or other objects on the body to indicate sexual interests. Worn on left to indicate you're a bottom, on the right to indicate you're a top. There are several contradictory lists saying what each color code indicates. Mostly used in the gay male culture, and has branched out to lesbian and BDSM cultures, but may be dying out.

flarping

The act of utilizing Flarp around a public location, such as a store or supermarket. The sound that Flarp makes can be performed numerous ways, very creative ways, in order to confuse any pedestrian. Flarping is a soon-to-be art form that includes three crucial pieces: the sound, the execution of the act, and the response/reaction of the victim.

Mike: "Hey Hunt, what are you doing this weekend?"

Hunt: "I'm going flarping with the guys. wanna come with us?"

Mike: "Fuck yea! I was hoping you would ask! This means a lot to me bro!"

Pissy Flanging Gay Ball

A comedy sports game that is most commonly played in car parks at night after the pub. It involves passing the ball amongst players with a maximum of three touches per player and a maximum of one bounce off the floor between players. If the ball bounces more than once or a player uses any part of the body apart from their hands to touch the ball they are out and then become a decoy who now has to try and put other players off using any means possible. The last player in wins.
