There is another meaning of the term 'fauxmosexual' dim:'fauxmo'.

This is a person who chooses to distance him/herself from the hetero norm of society, whether or not s/he is straight, gay or bi.

A fauxmo is a self-identified politically aware person who has probably read Foucault, or has at least heard of him.

Fauxmos often do not display the typical tropes of heterosexual society such as marriage, kids, mortgages and patio heaters.

Fauxmos do understand the importance of valuing individuals on their own merits and qualities and not judging or stereotyping them according to limiting memes and prejudiced views of sexuality and gendered behaviour.

I don't care if you think I'm gay; I'm definitely fauxmo.

Any opposite-sex, cross-gender-identifying person trying to pursue sexual relationships with others, such as a so-called "gay transman" pursuing gay men - #BoxerCeiling or in the case of #LesbiMans pursuing Lesbians - #CottonCeiling.

The pomo is characterized by the propensity to proclaim oneself as a homosexual for the express purpose of procuring sexual favor from people of the opposite sex.
