In 2018 with the release of the new clone trooper skins for star wars battlefront 2, people spotted a droideka in the background of the picture. the community got excited and thought droideka were confirmed for the game while the community managers shrugged of it was a crashed speeder. afterwards it was in a different build of the game where they had an unfinshed version of the droideka without animation and it had gotten into the picture. earning it's name and meme on the subreddit as crashed speeder

This is the opposite of jump the shark. When a good show becomes a great show, it has crashed the fence. This phrase comes from season one of the FX show "The Shield" in which series star Michael Chiklis' character Vic Mackey crashes through a fence rather than climbing over it while chasing a criminal.
