Pantheistic Solipsistic Buddhism

Today, a young philosophy major on Magic Mushrooms, realized that all matter in the Universe is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration; that our souls are actually the electronic energy connections within our minds. That we are all one universal consciousness born into separate realities, experiencing itself subjectively. There is NO such thing as space and time or death; life is only an existential dream, and everything that ever thrived in the universe (humans, animals, plants, stars) is the imagination of ourselves.

Pretty much true.

Buddhism

Buddhism is a religion (not just a "philosophy") practiced by millions of people, primarily in Southeast Asia, China, Japan, and (increasingly) in the U.S. It is actually the most diverse family of religions, and the only major religion never to have sponsored a holy war. Founded by Siddhartha Gautama in northern India in the 6th Century B.C.E., Buddhism teaches that life is suffering, that the suffering is caused by desire and other delusions, and that overcoming these delusions will extinguish the suffering.

Most Buddhists believe in reincarnation, and strive to achieve Nirvana (enlightenment) and thus get off the 'wheel of rebirth' (in other words, cease being reincarnated). This can be interpreted as "nonexistence," or as graduating to a higher plane of existence -- being reunited with the universe itself.
Buddhism neither believes nor disbelieves in God; it is simply not considered an important question. But Buddhists do believe in the soul and afterlife (reincarnation). Buddhism is the most philosophical, contemplative, and psychologically oriented of all the major religions.

Mahayana Buddhism

The more informal kind of Buddhism, as opposed to the strict and formal Theravada Buddhism. Mahayana literally means big ox cart, while Theravada means small ox cart, because there are many more people who are informal than formal. Some believe in the teachings and ways of Buddha but do not follow and believe all of them. Many Mahayana Buddhists are atheists and do not see Siddhartha Gautama as a God, but rather a teacher to look up to. However, a Mahayana Buddhist isn't necessarily atheistic, just not as strict as Theravada Buddhists.
Example for Mahayana Buddhism:
I'm a Mahayana Buddhist, and although I believe in everything Buddha taught in his lifetime, I do not consider him divine or godly.

Den Buddhism

when one "converts" to buddhism for the purpose of interior decoration. Very common among the White Urban Liberal (WUL) demographic and especially so in Boulder, CO.
guy 1: dude, Jeff just converted to Buddhism
guy 2: how?
guy 1: I don't know, he just started putting up all this Buddhist crap in his living room
guy 2: Jeff practices Den Buddhism then.

Bumper Sticker Buddhism

Succinct spiritual phrase supposedly attributed to a wide range of so-called spiritual leaders or guru such as, e.g., Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, Ghandi, Dalai Lama or Jesus that offer a shortcut to enlightened consciousness. They are often posted as a status on Facebook or in public toilets. Examples of Bumper Stickers Buddhism
- “The secret of life is to use our energy to welcome the new and to put to rest the old – Abraham Lincoln

- “Try not to expect anything so that everything will come to you – Elvis”

- “You are where you need to be and to be in the be, is being a free bee – Plato”
I’m tired of your bumper sticker Buddhism

I’ve been to see my massage therapist and had to hear her bumper sticker Buddhism for an hour.

Buddhism

the belief that life is a cycle that causes suffering.
Suffering is perpetuated by roughly 3 things:
1.birth
2.life
3.death

Through meditation, one can free themselves of this cycle by reaching
nirvana.
It also extends to the fact that everything in life comes from all other things, and that those things came from something else and etc.
Example of the suffering cycle:

-A bird dies, and the body's nutrients decay into the ground.
-A berry bush is planted at the same location years later.
-Someone eats a berry from the bush, which in turn is eating the nutrients from the bird.
-This perpetuates life and essentially the suffering cycle.

You can apply this idea towards: space, recycling, and even humans.

Get away from my buddhism

1. to have a lot of sketchy sex.

2. To cheat on your wife with many women.

(Made popular by Tiger Woods' interview with Tom Rinaldi explaining why he cheated on his wife)
"Jesse James really got away from his Buddhism these last few years. What a player!"

"Ty's bachelor party is gonna have so many skanks floating around. I'm definitely gonna get away from my Buddhism for a weekend."
