tapered pants

Tapered pants are trousers popular during the 1980s and early 90s and worn by both genders. The pants sat high on the waist, ballooned around the hips and thighs, then tapered at the ankle. Often worn with with a baggy, button down shirt buttoned all the way to the top, with the collar up. These pants defined "New Romantic" fashion.

Duran Duran, Thompon Twins, Depeche Mode, Platinum Blonde, Annie Lennox (Eurythmics) all wore these tapered pants.

Those who deliberately target a sporting star, VIP, or celebrity in order to photograph or otherwise portray them in a seemingly compromising situation.

The Australian all-rounder recently told the Herald of a "traperazzi" scheme during the 2007 World Cup in the Caribbean, in which one member of the public slapped him across the face while another stood nearby photographing the incident.

Tapering can help an addict when trying to quit a drug. Splitting a pill, snorting less, and even injecting less.

The diminishment of a conversation to shorter and shorter sentences on facebook. Usually the conversation is between two people who, over the course of the exchange, realize they have little to say to each other.

After I noticed our convo turning into a facebook taper, I realized I probably shouldn't have added my 8th grade lab partner.

twapel

Tweets about chapel. A phrase often used as a twitter hashtag for college students who attend Christian universities and are forced to go to chapel. Originated at Oral Roberts University, but expanded as other college students stopped paying attention in chapel and started tweeting instead.

#twapel is often used like a forum to publicly critique anything happening within the chapel building while chapel is in session.

Cowboy boots...and a zebra print dress? Why not...her voice makes up for her wardrobe selection. #twapel
