The Sov effect

This is when Sovereign, a player in rainbow six siege, is living rent-free in the mind of pro's evoking fear upon them causing them to hide in corners and not peek at him and play abnormally passive.
'Lmao they are all camping on site they haven't even roamed this half.'
'Yeah, that is because they are experiencing the Sov effect.'

sovl

A "misspelling" of the word "soul" derived from 4chan.

Related to the "return to tradition" meme because of its replacing the letter u with v, as was done in written ancient Latin during the time of Rome.

Used to describe something with character, depth, realism, complexity, superiority, or any other kind of appealing characteristics in comparison with something else; particularly something that feels mass-produced, artificial, or otherwise tailored for broad popular/mass appeal or usage. Usually (though not always) used ironically or sarcastically.

Soviet achievements

Soviet achievements and innovations were mostly based on espionage, copies/rip offs and forced labor as their initial space program turned out to be. The reason for this is that the atmosphere did not encourage creativity as commies tended to mediocre everyone and the system's bureaucratic rigidity et cetera. After such a waste of talent and brain drain, no one has to wonder about the backwardness of its today's successor, in practice it is still a developing country when taking into account its poor infrastructure, corruption, "justice system" and the share of exports of raw materials in GDP etc. and this current authoritarian regime does not improve the situation to say the least.

About the before mentioned space program; there were ca. 2,000 German rocketeers (engineers, scientists and mathematicians) as a forced labor on the Soviet space program from the end of the war till the late 1950s. Russkies recall eagerly about on the contribution of Wernher von Braun and partners to the US' space program, but for some reason they have a common amnesia in their very own case.

Let's forget rockets and the Sputnik in 1957 because much more significant achievement happened in 1969, the first toilet paper factory! The machines had been imported from the UK, albeit it took years to meet the need of the whole country - in fact, it appears to be still a chronic deficiency in public restrooms if someone daredevil has the courage to visit one.
- "Sputnik in 1957 was nothing compared to the one of the greatest Soviet achievements in 1969."
- "What was this achievement?"

- "The first toilet paper factory in the Soviet Union began production."
- "Oh, how about before that, did they all wipe their ass with a Pravda (Truth) newspaper or with an owl like tree huggers?"

- "Not all, some Tovarištš Comrades had imported toilet paper available, you know, all assholes were equal, but some assholes were more equal than others." (slightly modified George Orwell quote from his 'Animal Farm')

Homo Sovieticus

The term is pseudo-Latin/dog Latin and a sarcastic reference to the average Joe lived in the Soviet Union and considered by political zealots as the next level of evolution of humanity, nor is this creature of the Marxist social experiment by any means extinct.

In reality the homo sovieticus was an inactive and submissive tool who waded and queued up in the bureaucratic shit creek and whose main characteritics were drunkenness, complete passivity and who contempt for work and common property and avoided all personal responsibility. Activity occurred in the aforementioned boozing and the theft of common property, in the latter case, the stolen goods were sold and this additional income was used for the goods avaiable on the black markets at high prices due to chronic shortages of certain goods.

Sovok was also an extreme ignoramus who believed uncritically everything what the government's propaganda said, otherwise the coercive power, though with the help of barbed wire, would have collapsed sooner.

Homo sovieticus will never admit any wrongdoings they have done and will never compensate for the damages - in that respect it is consistent, nor have the Mongols done so though they squatted the Slavs for a quarter of a millennium.

Today nothing essential hasn't changed in a mindset of homo post-sovieticus because it is in their genes and Putler's propaganda machinery provides information to the extent that independent thinking is unnecessary.
"Russian tourists seem to be miserable drivers."
"Sure, it's because of their Homo Sovieticus inheritance, cars are relatively new vehicles for them - they used to travel abroad by tanks when liberated oppressed nations."
