A marketing ploy used by organizations that have exhausted all other plausable excuses for introducing ill-conceived products, policies, practices and/or services that will ultimately prove to be counterproductive.

The Wheel of Innovation

A fictional wheel that a salesperson allows a customer to spin when the customer feels there has been an injustice, or to sweeten the "deal".
Brad: I cannot get this guy to sign a new agreement. He is mad at us for billing him too much last month, and now he want's something for free.

The opposite of being innovative. Going back to doing things in an old fashioned way or in a way that has not previously brought success, or has brought failure.
