A gangsta' word for a gun. Derived from the word Gatling. Richard J. Gatling was a Civil War era inventor that invented a mounted gun much like that of a cannon. With 10 rotating barrels it could fire 1200 rounds per minute, something completely unheard of at the time.

How a bunch of uneducated thugs on the streets learned about history is beyond me!
When the cops busted his ass, they found his loaded gat in his saggy ass pants!
