If in a round/shout of drinks and the other drinkers are too slow drinking their drinks. You may have a wedge which is an extra drink you buy just for yourself. However the shout or round will continue as normal.

Gee, Phil is thirsty , couldn't wait for me to buy the next shout. He has gone and got a wedge.
