Stupid term used primarily by journalist in the early 90s, because the thought they needed a new word for rock music.

Hey this shit sounds pretty good, but we can't call it "rock n' roll" alright why don't we just call it "grunge".

Grungexcore
1. music mostly 90's (nirvana, pearl Jam, Sound Garden, etc...) nowadays music is shitty!
2. style for boys is baggy jeans, Band tees, long hair(not multi-colored & styled faggish) for girls kinda tight tore up jeans, vintage & bank tees.
3. clothes mostly bought from thrift stores, & unknown stores. NOT abercrombie & fitch, or hollister those stores are for lame ass preps.
for all girls who call their style grungexcore but wear huge sun glasses, pants that are torn up but cost 500$, & a&b clothing quit being such a poser nobody likes you.

prep: OMG!like I got the cutest pair of pants I have ever gotten see they're all torn up & grungy they only cost like 500$ I saw paris hilton wear them & jus had to have them!
grungexcore kidd: Whoa! you're so GxC! *sarcasm*
prep: Like duh i totally already knew that.
grungexcore kidd: Do like Alice in chains?
prep: Eww no way Alice would look horrible in chains yuck!
grungexcore kidd: Go jump off a bridge!

grungecore

A new genre of music that is the next step in the neo-grunge movement. Imagine Nirvana or Alice In Chains played twice or three times as fast. Then throw in a double kick bassdrum, an unnecessary amount of guitar distortion and pile-driving bass and you get.....grungecore

Guy1: "Dude that new band is absolutely nuts!"

Guy2: "Really? Never heard of em. What kind of music are they?"

Guy1: "Grungecore."

Guy2: "Then it has to be good!"

Grunge Fringe

A grunge fringe is a hairstyle, but not one you usually will have on a voluntary basis. It is found on beings with a fringe, who haven't cut their hair in an a bit to big amount of time, and hasn't washed it in a while either. It can often be found amongst punks and such whom has had a bad month. A classic grunge fringe has usually some unnatural, but fading colours.

Kurt Cobain had a grunge fringe at times, but he seemed to want it...

country grunge

1. a gritty form of modern country music
2. a mix-genre of guitar tones and drum beats
3. usually a country-raised lyrical base with influence from experience or thoughts
4. a non-conforming attitude, but still gentleman-like

-values include hard-working, generous, kind, courteous, but wild and fun.
-more real and in-depth lyrical subject matters
-emotions vary greatly, i.e. thought-provoking, sarcastic, light-hearted and/or heartbroken

Jared Blake is an example of a recent, mass-exposed country grunge artist on NBC's "The Voice".

Other popular artists include Johnny Cash, Kris Kristoffersen, Jamey Johnson, Keith Urban, and Jason Aldean, to name a few.

In the tradistion of "Rastafarian" grunge describes an immage, attitude and genre of music. The apperance was mainly modled on the man dubbed "The generation's spokesman" Kurt Cobain, and featured flannel shirts, torn jeans, converse trainers and baggy sweaters. The music was very toned-down/ volume-up version of punk, but where punk was angry, grunge was disilusioned & generally dissatisfied escape to moan at the world.
Begun in seatle (Mainly by Kurt Cobain and the record-label "Sub-Pop") in the early 90's and often called "Generaation-X" grunge was the last pure genre of music we had.
