1) A fictional and unspecified mechanical part used in jokes about machines. Often used with "finnigan pin", "canutenvalve", "whatchamacallit", and others.

2) As (1), but used in jokes about mistakes and failures in general.

My smoke signal receiver is in the shop. It's canutenvalve smashed the finnigan pin when the kafratsis failed.

That mistake could have happened to anybody, you just overlooked the kafratsis, that's all.

You roll to pick up the dragon lance, but you are struck in the face by the kafratsis before you can reach it.
