It is a special type of lying whereby someone asks a question and the person provides a response that is a lie to make they seem inferior or in a less fortunate position. Essentially, lying to make yourself look worse so people underestimate you and judge you as someone unfortunate.

I asked her where she was going to vacation and she told me South Padre Island. Then a month later I find out she went to Positano. She totally bogeled me.

I asked her what she had for lunch and she told me she hardly had anything to eat but then I found out she had oscetra caviar with champagne. Total bogel.
