A term used by whiny teenagers on tumblr who have no mental illnesses but for some unknown reason wish they did.

Tumblr User: "I've been self-diagnosed with depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and stage-4 fanfiction addiction."

Friend: "Have you confirmed this with a psychiatrist?"

Tumblr User: "No, doctors freak me out."

self-centric

Someone who clearly believes that the world spins around him/her. It's not the same as ego-centric or self-centered, because the self-centric person is not full of him or herself. He or she only believes that everything in the world has to do with him or her.

I think he is pretty self-centric.

A person with no life who finds different mental illnesses to look 'quirkier', or to excuse their rude behaviour. Guess what, Stacy, you do not have OCD because you like to put your pencils in a rainbow pattern!!! You also don't have ADHD because you have a sad amount of fidget toys!!!!!

self-googling

The act of using the Google search engine to look yourself up. Extreme cases of self-googling have resulted in googlitis.

I was dying to know how many different ways people could find me on the Internet, so I did a little self-googling in order to count. Sadly, I'm not nearly as popular as the other person out there with my exact name.

self-perpetuating ignorance

A phrase used to describe the blind beliefs of any institution or state where someone is told to believe something without evidence or reason and where that ignorance is then passed on to others (because they believe the lies they have been told) and becomes self-perpetuating.

'Nationalism is a form of self-perpetuating ignorance where we are taught to hate the 'other' or outside group.'

'No you cannot convert me to your religion, I have no desire to be a part of your cult's self-perpetuating ignorance.'
