Get the jesus rockmug. A style of music that originated in New York in the mid 1970s. Although many people claim to know the true origins of punk rock, few really do. Originally a movement of alienated youth, today it is used as a moniker to describe any horrible piece of trash that receives frequent rotation on FM radio. A word absolutely devoid of it's original meaning and virtually destroyed by the popular media.
Black Flack circa 1980 was the definition of a punk rock band; explosive and threatening. Blink 182 is the present definition of a punk band; safe and non-threatening.
