Sounds like a slur to certain flannel wearing vapers.

Guy:I was in Australia and kangaroos were just running around in public.
Vaper: was that a racial pejorative?
Guy: no like a literal kangaroo ran across the street in front of me.

Vaper: ok I’ll have to look that up.
