based on the idea that tin foil protects your brain from being read, this term may also refer to people who embrace paranoid or conspiracy theories. especially used by leftists when referring to far leftists.

Did you see the Tin Foil Hat ranting about aliens controlling the media? His conspiracy theories made the rest of us look like nuts!
