Austria Hungary

An Empire that existed over a hundred years ago. It formed in 1867 at the collapse of the Austrian Empire and collapsed due to ethnic tensions in World War I in 1918. In consisted of the Austrian half of the empire, which was mostly German speaking, and the predominately Hungarian speaking half of the empire. It is often called "The Dual Monarchy" because of it's Austrian royals and Hungarian royals. It was a European powerhouse which was a key player in European politics in the late 19th century. In the early 1900's, the empire annexed Bosnia which had a high population of ethnic Serbs. This led to tensions with Serbia, which led to World War I, during which the empire collapsed due to internal revolutions by the empire's ethnic minorities. Czechoslovakia, Austria, and Hungary were created from the empire's territories, while Poland, Romania, Italy, and Yugoslavia gained lands from the collapse of the empire. The empire was doomed to failure from the moment it was created because of the many ethnic groups in constant struggle for representation. The empire's collapse is often incorrectly attributed to World War I, but it really collapsed due to internal revolts which the empire, already weak from war, could not defeat. The war, if anything, accelerated the demise of the empire, it didn't cause it.

Austin, TX

The capital of Texas, in the south-central part of the state. Austin was selected as the capital of the Republic of Texas in 1839 and became the permanent capital of the state of Texas in 1870. The main campus of the University of Texas (established 1881) is here.

A tavern or bar room or cheap gin mill. This is due to the fact that Australians are known for excessive drinking and spending too much time in gin mills.

Austin, TX

The capital city of Texas, where Longhorns, hippies, yuppies, scenesters, frat boys, sorority girls, rednecks, WASPS, and transvestites all live together peacefully. The most liberal, liveable, and fun city in Texas, or anywhere. Popular for being the live music capital of the world and home to the coolest university.

I went to Austin,TX and I saw a guy wearing tight jeans with a plaid shirt, a dreadlocked hippie, and preppy pearls-and-a-polo wearing girl all in the same taco bar.

On Friday I went to Austin, TX and went to sixth street and got really drunk, then I went to a club and saw some awesome local bands, then i went to eat some awesome food at one of the 24-hour restaurants. I also got hit on by a crazy transvestite wearing nothing but a purple thong. It was the best night of my life.

Australia

Ahhh....Australia. The Great Southern Land, Down Under, Terra Australis, Oz, The Better Version of New Zealand...
The world's biggest island and smallest continent, with the world's highest amount of sporting success per capita. Dryest inhabitated continent and the only country to occupy a whole continent. Sixth largest country in the world and the third least densely populated. The national occupations are drinking and sport, unsurprising given we're all descended from convicts.

Pom/Kiwi/Yank/Frog/pretty much anyother nationality: "Damn those Australians, they've beaten our cricket/football/swimming/hockey/most other sports under the sun team for the 456th time!"

Austin hipster

n. A pretentious, self-ironizing, cool person found in certain areas of Austin, Texas. The Austin hipster can be seen prancing around with a morose, pensive look on his face, while he's secretly enjoying the urban experience. Aside from corrupting the music scene with his mere presence, this Central Texan herbivore also enjoys lounging around in coffee shops and writing poetry. This retro dork conceals the pride he has for whatever hipster shirt he’s sporting at the moment. While he considers himself a liberal, he’s actually supporting the system with his commercialized non-conformity.

Example:

Regular guy: Let’s go to Austin for vacation this year.

Regular guy’s friend: Naw… I don’t think I wanna be around all those Austin hipsters.
