paving scam

A scam devised by gypsies which involves a "paver" stopping by a house or business stating "I have some leftover asphalt from a big job and I can pave your driveway inexpensively." They either do a really poor job, jack up the price that you agreed to, or do the job after you say no and demand money.

John calls his Boss: "Some weird looking smelly guy is asking if we want him to pave our driveway? He says he has a bunch of leftover asphalt and can do it real cheap."

John's Boss: "NO NO NO NO NO!!!! Tell that disgusting gypsy to take his paving scam elsewhere!"

Vanity Scam

When your company has received an award from an organization you have never heard of (the U.S. Local Business Association is an example) that is clearly a deceptive marketing tactic similar to the phony domain name or Yellow Pages bills that are sent in hopes your AP department will pay them. Often the incentive (and allure) is a plaque or award certificate for "recognizing that <your company name> has been selected for the 2008 Best of <your town> Award."

Spam email Vanity Scam excerpt: "In recognition of your achievement, a 2008 Best of xxxxx Award plaque has been designed for display at your place of business. You may arrange to have your award sent directly to xxxxx by following the simple steps on the 2008 Best of xxxx Award order form <https://www.uslba2008.net/xxxx> . Simply copy and paste this link into your browser to access the order form:

dogfood scam

1. A old school scam used by bums to get money by using a can of dog food and a can of cornbeef and hash. The can of dog food is emptied and cleaned out and the cornbeef is placed in the dogfood can. The bum then sits outside a grocery store eating from the dogfood can and is given money by strangers that think the poor bum is eating dogfood.
2. Any scam where a bum lowers himself to a unethical level, such as pretending to have no legs.

Ford: Well the car is busted and I'm out of money.
porch: I have a couple of dollars. Lets get some cornbeef and some alpo and pull the dogfood scam.
Ford: Heheh, the dogfood scam, I'll get my bum suit out of the trunk.

When someone befriends you online, using Social Media, Skype, Emails, Or other forms of contact, to extract information from you, or Guilt you into giving them money - Close to Romance scam, but romance doesn't have to be the key interest here to scam you

Person 1: Remember Donna?
Person 2: Yeah.
Person 1: Apparently her friend Online has asked for her to give her some money
Person 2: Sounds like a grooming scam to me.
