Fandom Colonizer

Outsiders who join a fandom solely to change it to fit their standards without actually enjoying it. They ignore pre-established rules and expect others to follow their new ones without question. They attack fans and creators for anything they deem "abnormal" and engage in brigaded attacks against those who don’t conform. They have no problem threatening violence or sending death threats, believing their actions are justified.

Despite pretending to be inclusive, they reject any culture outside their own. When called out, they always play the victim and claim it's proof the fandom needs "fixing." They manipulate online engagement by botting Facebook likes, Twitter shares, and Reddit upvotes to create a false sense of support.

Most emerged during and after the 2020 pandemic when lockdowns gave people too much free time. While some pre-2020 cases existed, they were mostly confined to Tumblr. They can be identified by posts mocking fandom norms that receive thousands of likes, yet most replies disagree, exposing the botting.

When confronted, they typically:
- Play the victim
- Use ad hominem attacks against fans
- Trivialize the situation (often exposing their hypocrisy)
- Threaten violence against those who disagree

Fandom Stalking

It’s where you engage with fan produced content from a specific fandom without ever engaging in the source material directly. A fandom stalker selectively immerses themselves in aspects of a fandom, often becoming familiar with character dynamics, plot arcs, and themes through the lens of other fans.
“I’ve never watched The Last of Us, but I know everything about Ellie and Joel from reading fanfic and watching edits. I guess I’m fandom stalking.”

Fandom Stalking

The act of engaging deeply with fan-produced content—such as fanfiction, fanart, video edits, commentary, and memes—of a specific fandom without having consumed the original source material. A fandom stalker selectively immerses themselves in the emotional and aesthetic aspects of a fandom, often becoming familiar with character dynamics, plot arcs, and themes through the lens of other fans. This form of participation is marked by a pick-and-choose approach: embracing what resonates while intentionally avoiding aspects of the canon that don’t appeal.

Fandom Friend Zone

It is similar to the White Collar Friend Zone in that you have emotionally gaslit yourself, but this time you have brought yourself to cope with your team’s lack of success through fabricated moral victories and self-fulfilling prophecies.
Coley: Guys, I don't really care my favourite hockey team since birth lost 2 straight cup finals, I really enjoyed the togetherness at the Molson Oilers Experience and being with friends to watch every game. It really IS about the journey, not the destination.

KB: Fuck Coley, you are in the Fandom Friend Zone, like the time you said you valued the unique stories of all the 18th century antiques you bought at garage sale when you were trying to sleep with that chick.

You should have sports PTSD from you AND your team not being able to put it home, **Foreskin Chuckle**.

Coley: Gosh, you may be right, but I really enjoyed the $26 Aeporol Spritz activation during the 2nd Round.

KB: Ok, We're Done Here.

Fandom-Pilled

(Adj./Verb): A word to describe a person, who is so deep in a specific fandom as to surround themselves and their lives with It.

Often the person that is "Fandom-Pilled" will have the object of their fandom as their personality, will talk about the propety heavily, and take on the opinions of the group and stand by them with their lives.

They will also take any opinions that don't align with the opinions of others (or just plain ol' critique;) as an attack on them specifically, and will vocally make that know. (And, also, will Vocally signal that they are "Fandom-Pilled".)

Most of these people are a part of one (or more) of the "Loud Fandoms" (iykyk).

A couple of friends talking to each other:

Steve: I had a friend that was Fandom-Pilled once.
John: ...And?
Steve: I distanced himself from Me after He went ballistic, because i told him, with good reason why, that I didn't like the game that he played.
John: Why would He do that?
Steve: He was deep in the fandom sauce... It was the only thing that he spoke about, played that thing insessantly; When I looked into the Fandom, There were many more people like him, almost if it was a cult...
John: That sounds like some made-up BS...
Steve: Well...... (:
